wheeev — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-08-18
wheeev is a social app for motorcycle and car people: post and join meets, chat,
and optionally share your location with people you ride with. This policy explains
what we collect, why, and what control you have. You must be at least 16 years old
to use wheeev.
What we collect
- Account: your email address, used only to sign you in with a one-time code. There is no password.
- Profile: display name, an optional description of what you ride or drive, an optional home city/region label, and an optional profile photo.
- Content you create: meets you post (including title, details, start time, the meeting address and its coordinates, and an optional poster image), RSVPs and arrival check-ins, group memberships, and chat messages — including photos, GIFs and locations you send.
- Location: see the section below, which describes three separate uses.
- Notifications: a push token for each device you sign in on, so we can deliver notifications you have turned on.
- Safety: records of accounts you block and reports you file.
Location, specifically
wheeev uses location in three distinct ways. They are separate, and the second
and third are off unless you turn them on.
- Finding things near you. When you browse meets or groups, your device's current location is used at that moment to sort and filter results by distance. This is not stored, and your coordinates are never attached to your profile.
- Sharing your live location on a ride. If you start a ride share for a meet you are attending, your position is stored and shown to other people going to that meet, so everyone can converge. It updates as you move, has an expiry you choose when you start it, and stops when you stop it or when it expires. Positions are not kept as a history — each update replaces the last.
- Sharing your location with a private group. If you turn sharing on for a specific private group, members of that group can see your most recent position. To keep this useful without draining your battery, your device may report a significantly changed position while wheeev is in the background or closed. This continues until you turn that group's sharing off, which deletes the shared position.
You can revoke any location sharing at any time in the app, and you can revoke
wheeev's access to location entirely in iOS Settings. Doing so does not delete
your account or your other content.
How we use it
To operate the app: sign you in, show meets and people near you, deliver your
chats and notifications, show location you have chosen to share, and keep the
community safe. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with
advertisers. There is no advertising or third-party analytics in wheeev.
Where it goes
- Supabase hosts our database, authentication and file storage. Your data lives there so the app can work.
- Resend delivers your sign-in code by email.
- Expo Push Service and Apple deliver push notifications to your device.
- GIPHY powers GIF search. When you search for a GIF, your search term is sent to GIPHY to return results. Powered by GIPHY.
These providers process data only so wheeev can function. We do not share your
data with anyone else.
Who can see what
Your display name, profile photo, what you ride, and your home city label are
visible to other signed-in members. Meets you post are visible according to where
you post them — publicly, or only to a group. Messages are visible to the people
in that conversation. A location you share is visible only to the people described
in the section above, and only while you are sharing it.
Safety and your controls
- Blocking: block someone and you will not see each other's meets or messages, and neither of you can message the other.
- Reporting: report a message, meet, or person. Reports are reviewed and acted on.
- Location: stop a ride share or revoke a group's sharing at any time, which removes the position that was shared.
- Deletion: delete your account and its data at any time in the app, under Profile → Delete account. You can also email us to request deletion.
How long we keep it
Profile and content you create are kept until you delete them or delete your
account. Live ride positions expire automatically and are removed. A group-shared
position is removed when you revoke that group's sharing. Deleting your account
removes your profile, your content, and your shared locations.
Children
wheeev is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect
information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us
and we will remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top of this
page and, where appropriate, tell you in the app.
